Kyra's hair has gotten so long that we were finally able to put it in piggy tails. Doesn't she look cute.

Kyra's Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas. She left cookies for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. Kyra's most prized presents, her M&Ms, Yogos and lollipops of course. Once she saw those, the only thing she was interested in was eatting them all.
Kyra opened 1 present Christmas morning and was all done with that. Now we know for next year... one present is good enough.

Holiday Retrospective...

Here is a Holiday Retrospective of Kyra. First we have Kyra and Santa teddy, Christmas 2005, age 2 1/2 months. She is the same size as teddy.Next Kyra at Sears (Mommy forgot to take the teddy picture) for Christmas 2006, age 14 months.

Chocolate Lollipops

Aunt Melissa came over to make chocolate lollipops with Kyra and I. Kyra loved making them and sampling the chocolates. Her favorite were the Rudolph lollipops.

Snowmobiling anyone?

Today Kyra went for her first ride on a snowmobile with Daddy. She liked it at first but then said it was too loud.

Move over Betty Crocker...

Kyra and I have been very busy baking (yes, Mercy girls you heard that right, Jaymar bakes now!). We had lots of fun making cookie dough cupcakes and decorating them like Rudolph. Kyra can now sing all of Rudolph and says he is coming to our house on Christmas for a carrot and will be on the roof with Santa. Kyra isn't really into eatting a cupcake, only the frosting.

Kyra had a cold on Thursday so we spent the day making Salt Dough ornaments and handprints thanks to Aunie B's suggestion. Saturday we will be making Christmas chocolate lollipops and other candy treats with Aunt Melissa. Then cookies on Sunday for Santa's arrival.

Good bye Moo-Moo and Maggie

On December 14th, exactly 26 months to the day, we bid farewell to Kyra's two best friends, Moo-moo and Maggie, her pacifiers. Mommy vowed that the day all of them, and we had many, went bad, we would not purchase any more. Lately Kyra had been covering them in silly putty or biting them and putting big holes in them so on that Friday night, after a large hole in the last one, we bit the bullet and started life without Moo-moo and Maggie and it hasn't been too bad. Why the names? Kyra had some pacifiers that had animals on them and she thought one looked like a cow, hence Moo-moo. Then cousin Maggie had one too, hence Maggie. Good bye dear pacis!

Santa again

We saw Santa again today at playgroup. Unlike our mall experience, Kyra was very interested in seeing and sitting on the joly old man. She told him (through Mommy) all that she wants: M&Ms, Yogos, lollipops, shaving cream and a shaving kit...no toys. Its an easy year for Santa's wallet.

Of course Kyra was thrilled with the candy cane she got from Santa. If its packed with sugar and ultra sweet, Kyra will love it.

Let It Snow!

Kyra jumped for joy at the prospect of our first snow fall. Since she is our monkey girl, she of course was wearing her new monkey jammies.

She had to take her bike for a ride. I think she is going to be like her father and love the snow and cold weather.

Kyra tried out her slide all covered in snow.

She landed in a snow pile which covered her face and that was the end of our day in the snow.

All Aboard!

Kyra recently spent the weekend in CT at Grammie and Poppie's house and went for a ride on the Essex Steam Train. She saw Mrs. Claus...
Santa Claus...
Rudolph...
And a penguin and some elves. She had lots of fun riding the Choo-Choo train.

Trimming the Tree

We spent our Sunday decorating the Christmas tree. Kyra was very excited to help.

She enjoyed putting the ornaments on the tree (and taking them off and putting them back on and taking them off again...) We didn't put up as many ornaments this year and only put plush ones on the lower branches so that nothing gets broken.

Kyra decided she wanted one last picture taken so she posed and said cheese.

Great Grandma's Holiday Party

Kyra and I went to CT to the Holiday party at the nursing home where Great Grandma is. It was very nice. Here is Kyra and Great Grandma. You'll notice that Kyra's face is a little raw these days. Its the darn "paci" pacificer. We hope that we can kick that habit real soon!

Getting Ready for the Holidays

Can't believe its been 2 weeks since our last post.... weekly is going to be tough. We are starting to get ready for the holidays. Kyra enjoys making sugar cookies and deocrating them. Her favorite seems to be eatting the dough.

We have started (very early stages) to use the potty! I know this is an odd place to put this one but I am having a heck of a time uploading these pictures and editting them. (Fiona, your tip isn't working for me) So back to holiday stuff... (although in keeping with the holidays, Kyra is reading The Night before Christmas)

Kyra likes to take her "sockie" (Christmas stocking) off of the mantel and try it on. (Yes... she looks like a crazy person here.)

Kyra models our new personalized Santa bag.

Kyra helped us pick out the Christmas tree. It was really cold and within seconds of being there she slipped on the ice (thankfully mommy was there to pick her up... daddy isn't so good on the ice) so the camera was put away with no pictures to show.

More to come once we put the tree up and decorate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

As excited as Mommy was about getting pictures on Thanksgiving Day, Kyra did not share the joy. Here she is as she sees me with the camera saying "Mommy, no photos!"

Those with 2 year olds can attest that things change daily as just a few days prior Kyra was hamming it up to the camera posing away. Here she is in our family room window. And again modeling Poppie's hunting boots. (Poppie stayed with us for about a week while he was hunting deer in our backyard, fortunately for the deer, Poppie didn't see any bucks.)

Here is Daddy sporting his apron as he gets ready to carve "Matilda" our Thanksgiving Day turkey. We had my parents, Todd's parents and my brother in law and sister in law over for dinner.

The only remaining Thanksgiving 2007 picture of Kyra is this one.... she likes to play horsey with Papa. She jumps up and down on his leg/foot. She has non stop energy.

Here comes Monkey Girl...

After much nagging and most recently threats (thanks Fiona!), we are launched. For all those Baby Schevans and Henry W Bean fans, this will not be as witty and clever but we are giving it a whirl so here comes Monkey Girl.

Not a whole lot for our first posting (mainly because I haven't taken too many new pictures). For those that haven't heard, we had to put Cameron (our cat of 10 years) to sleep on Novevmber 5th. These pictures were taken in our yard that afternoon. He had lots of fun chasing leaves and going after his sisters sticks (Kyra loves to clean up the yard). As you can see, he had blown up on the sides and was battling cancer. He was a trooper and lived much longer than the doctors had expected. He was in pain and uncomfortable and we didn't want him to continue like that.






Here he is sitting with his Sister in the front yard. Kyra has been doing really well since then and talks about "Cammie" every night. Last night she told me that she missed him and loved him and that he was in heaven and loved her too.

The next posting will be more upbeat and keeping with the animal theme will involve turkeys...Happy Thanksgiving.
